Jeanne is the author of Ying-Ying: Pieces of a Childhood, a book published by East West Publishing Company in 1982, the first in the series featuring Jasmine, a Chinese-American girl whose Chinese name is Ying-Ying. Ying-Ying 2: Jasmine by the Bay was published 2012, Ying-Ying 3: Jasmine in L.A. was published 2014, and Ying-Ying 4: Jasmine Returns to the Bay was December 2015. Jeanne looks forward to publishing a full-length novel Wind Chimes, and 3 screenplays: Love and Stuff, This Time You’re Mine, and Pieces of Ginger.
Jeanne’s acting credits include feature films Airport 1975 and First Monday in October; TV series Criminal Minds, M*A*S*H, Harry O, Kung Fu, Days of Our Lives, and Movie of the Week “The UFO Incident”. She has performed in theater productions with San Francisco’s Chung Lau Drama Group and the East West Playhouse where she also directed; Los Angeles’ East West Players, the Bilingual Foundation For the Arts, and the Inner City Repertory Theatre; in radio dramas, voice-overs, and commercials for TV, cable and the internet.
Jeanne’s administrative and production work began in the theater with the Inner City Cultural Center as assistant to the Executive Director; stage manager and technician in almost every aspect at the Inner City Repertory Theatre. Later she used these experiences as Assistant to the Executive Producers of such films as First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III, Iron Eagle II, Angel Heart, and Total Recall. She was Production Coordinator on Universal Soldier and Three of Hearts and Los Angeles Supervisor for The Boys From County Clare.
Before coming to Los Angeles to pursue a career in show business, Jeanne received a BA in History at UC Berkeley and with a primary teaching credential, taught at Ulysses S. Grant Elementary School in San Francisco. Changing gears, she earned a BA in Theatre Arts, graduating magna cum laude and receiving the Evelina C. Hale Award 1966 from the Pasadena Playhouse College of Theatre Arts, where she conducted speech and phonetics labs. She moved to Los Angeles where she taught theater and production classes at the Inner City Apprentice Training Program, Inner City Institute, and Los Angeles Trade Tech; as well as History of the Chinese Theatre at the Asian American Experimental College and UC Extension Classes.
Retired from teaching, administrative and production work, Jeanne continues writing and acting. Her most recent onscreen work was as Mrs. Kin Nishio in Criminal Minds (season 8, episode 3).
